Our new Chair Appointment

Dr Leanna Read, our new Independent Chairperson of our Board of Partners

Health Translation SA is pleased to announce Dr Leanna Read as the new Independent Chairperson of our Board of Partners. Dr Read replaces Professor Steve Wesselingh, Executive Director of SAHMRI, who chaired the board and was integral to the establishment of Health Translation SA since it was accredited by the NHMRC.

Chair and CEO of the recently completed Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Cell Therapy Manufacturing (CTM CRC), and chair of the CRC‘s two spin-out biotechnology companies, Carina Biotech Pty Ltd and TekCyte Pty Ltd, Ms Read brings a wealth of experience gained from board, CEO and investment roles across government, industry and the academic sectors, particularly in biotechnology. Her experience includes a 4-year term as SA’s Chief Scientist, board member of Uniseed, chair of the SA Government’s Agtech Advisory Group and longstanding membership of BioAngels/Southern Angels.

Dr Read’s appointment comes at a very important time for Health Translation SA with several projects gaining traction and her experience and expertise in fast tracking and scaling up research findings into practice will be invaluable.

We look forward to working with Dr Read to enable our valuable health and medical research to be translated into action to improve health outcomes for all South Australians.
