In mid-October 2019, Health Translation SA and SAHMRI hosted the second Connecting with Community Forum which brought together over 50 community members and researchers who are currently involved in, or have an interest in, community engagement activities across HTSA, HTSA partner organisations and SAHMRI.
Attendees had the opportunity to:
- Hear an update about community engagement activities that have been happening within HTSA and SAHMRI;
- Learn about different examples of how community members have influenced research priority setting within South Australian; and
- Provide feedback on ways they thought community members could be involved in research priority setting going forward and advice on a range of topics to inform a community engagement ‘top-tips’ factsheet.
The Forum was a huge success, with many positive ideas being generated for future community engagement activities across the South Australian health and medical research community.
Since the Forum, a summary of the table discussion notes and post-Forum feedback have been provided to the SAHMRI Community Advisory Group and Community Engagement in Research Toolkit & Forum Workgroups.
