
Notice of Inquiry
The South Australian Government through the Premier has asked the Commission to undertake an inquiry into health and medical research and development in the state.
The Commission will provide recommendations on options to improve the state’s share of Australian Government funding, increase the scale and productivity and the impact of health and medical R&D in South Australia. Changes to the structure, governance and operations of publicly funded health and medical R&D will also be considered.
The terms of reference for the inquiry state that the Commission is to consult with the SA Chief Scientist, SA agencies, universities, research institutions, industry, relevant peak bodies and other key stakeholders.
The Commission will shortly release an issues paper that sets out the Commission’s initial understanding of the matters to be addressed. This paper will seek feedback from interested parties on the matters identified as well as any other relevant issues.
A draft report will be made available in July and a final report in October 2020.
Stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback at various stages and to share this information with other stakeholders who wish to contribute to the inquiry.
